HFL and Penfield girls move to lax State final

Two Section V champs that picked the right time to play their best lacrosse of the season, moved in to the State final with nail biting wins in the semifinal. The HFL Cougars, who won just 4 of their 16 regular season game, will play for a state title after holding off Brewster 10-9 in Cortland. The Cougars were holding on to the lead late when senior goalkeeper Bridgette Kiefer made a huge save to close it out. In Class A, the fun loving Penfield Patriots pushed it to the limit in defeating Rockland. The Patriots were down 3 early, stormed back to tie the game in the 2nd half. But penalties left Penfield 2 players short for the final 18 minutes of the contest. But Morgan Cox buried the game winning goal in overtime to lead Penfield to the win.
