Big eighth inning helps Wings win 8-4
The Rochester Red Wings picked up an 8-4 win in Syracuse Sunday, picking up a game in the wild card race in the process.
Lehigh Valley lost its fourth straight game, meaning with the win, Rochester is now just two games back of the IronPigs.
The two teams entered the eighth tied at four, but Rochester put together a four-run inning behind a single from Anthony Recker, a sacrifice fly from Engelb Vielma, and a double from J.B. Shuck.
Shuck also tied the game in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.
Aaron Slegers got the start for Rochester, but was denied his league-leading 13th win. He went five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out six and walking two.
Zack Granite and Kennys Vargas hit early home runs for the Red Wings.
