Rochester, N.Y. – Friday is the biggest night for Amerks hockey in a decade – Brian Gionta will play for his hometown team.

The Amerks expect about 10,000 fans in attendance. The game was already expected to have a good crowd, as it’s the night the team honors first responders, but the Gionta news put the ticket window in overdrive.

In addition to Brian being a local guy, he was also the captain of the Buffalo Sabres for the last three seasons. Now, he will be captain of the United States Olympic team.

Expect to see a lot of #12 sweaters in the crowd Friday.

This is a big game for the Amerks, taking on first place Toronto.
