Rochester Red Wings name new manager for 2018 season
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - A new manager for the Rochester Red Wings has been announced by the Minnesota Twins Wednesady.
Joel Skinner will manage the Rochester Red Wings for the 2018 season.
The 56-year-old incoming skipper has managed teams in the minor leagues since 1995. He played 15 years, including 1983 until 1991 in MLB with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians.
Several members of the coaching staff from the 2017 season will return, including Hitting Coach Chad Allen, Pitching Coach Stu Cliburn and Strength & Conditioning Coach Tyler Burks.
Mike McCarthy and Chris Johnson will join the staff as the new Bullpen Coach and Athletic Trainer, respectively.
Skinner takes over for Mike Quade, who managed Rochester to a 238-192 record over three seasons.
