Sophomore Oshae Brissett scored 20 points, while the Syracuse defense suffocated Eastern Washington, giving the Orange a season-opening 66-34 win at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday.

The 34 points were the lowest total ever allowed by a Jim Boeheim Syracuse team at the Dome.

While the defensive effort was outstanding, and Brissett's game stood out, it was not a good day offensively for the Orange. Brissett was the only player in double figures, while Syracuse shot just over 38 percent, and just 3-17 from three point range and 15-28 at the foul line.

Jim Boeheim's son Buddy got his first career start today in his first career game while Franklin Howard recovers from an injury. Boeheim struggled, going just 1-11 from the field with three points.

Next up for the Orange is a Saturday date with Morehead State.
