Marty Snyder

Meteorologist

Marty Snyder is the morning meteorologist on 13WHAM ABC, CW Rochester, FOX Rochester and The WHAM Morning News on 1180 WHAM.

A native of Rochester, he graduated from Greece Athena High School. Marty earned his degree in meteorology at SUNY Oneonta, and holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.

Since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the wide range of weather conditions that we often see here in the Rochester area. While in college, he chose two independent studies of local weather patterns and events. In one, he identified the factors that led up to Rochester's infamous March 1991 ice storm. In another, he detailed some of the key factors that can come together to produce some of the more significant lake effect snow events in the eastern Great Lakes Region. While in college, he spent a semester as a student volunteer with the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

After working for seven years as morning meteorologist at the CBS affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, Marty decided to come back to Western New York to be closer to family. He now lives on a farm with his wife and two daughters in Ontario County.
